The Nigeria Army has announced that it has officially opened its online portal for the application into the Direct Short Service Course (DSSC) as well as for the Short Service Combatant Commission. This announcement was made via its official twitter handle.The courses, as announced, are opened to everybody who is a Nigerian by birth whether civilian or military personnel.

  • Applicants must be Nigerian citizen by birth.
  • 1.68m height minimum for male and 1.65m for female
  • Applicants must be medically and physically fit
  • Applicants must be without criminal conviction(s) from court of law
  • Applicants age must be in the range of 23 and 27 by January 2021
  • Applicants must have valid birth certificate recognised by the National Population Commission endorse, Hospital or Local Government Council or valid age declaration
  • Applicants must possess at least first degree with no less than Second Class Lower Division or HND with no less than Lower Credit for arts, sciences or humanities from accredited institutions
  • Candidates must submit Letter of Attestation from their former institutions
  • Candidates must not have tattoo or any thing written on their body
  • Candidates must have completed NYSC, and had recieved NYSC discharge certificate or a valid certificate of exemption
  • Candidates must have history of cult membership or belong to any secret society or fraternity.

Application Procedure for 2020 Recruitment Exercise

Interested and qualified candidates could apply for the course of their choosing (application is free) by logging on the official army recruitment portal www.recruitment.army.mil.ng or visit the Nigerian Army web page at recruitment and choose SSC or DSSC, depending which course one wishes to apply for.

The next step would be to choose the course for which one is most qualified and these would be listed along with their academic and age requirements.

After filling the various forms which would require one’s biodata, medical/ criminal records, next of kin information, academic details, etc., the following documents would have to be uploaded to the portal:

  • Passport photograph
  • Educational certificates
  • Certificate of origin
  • Birth certificate or age declaration
  • Evidence of membership of a professional body (only for those to which it applies).

After successful submission, applicants must print out all the provided documents (online generated photo-slip) of which the first page would have to be signed by a court registrar, and the second would be signed by any of the specified officials on the form.
